More icons...

Here's the final icon (as well as an updated version of the "contact us" icon):
Well, I have to go get ready for homewood days. If you get there before four you don't have to pay to get in. The whole paying to get in thing is just really annoying, because I want to see battle of the bands and that doesn't start til later. Damn you homewood!

Summer and... Work?

I have a job! Well, a sort of job anyways.

I'm designing the icons for a requirements engineering project Paula (PhD student at Depaul) is working on. They're turning out really well!We considered going with another version of the icons, and may still do so. They're simpler. Instead of drawing them in my notebook and then vectorizing them in illustrator I just created them in illustrator. They look more professional, but they're more boring:I'm also making some icons for my mom's website. Here's what I have so far:
I'm about to make the last icon for component library. Should be a fun time :D
And now, because I have very much gone back on my decision to frequently post my work on here, here is another two concentration pieces:

Atlas in the first and Hades, Persephone, and Demeter in the second. I'd tell the stories but I am far too lazy. I think I have better descriptions in my deviantart account, if you want to see them my username is Lissiebug (embarrassing name? yes.)

Later my invisible internet friends!

Btw, if anyone uses these icons for really any purpose, I'ma have to hunt you down and punch you in the throat. Don't do it. I will be pissed.

Bye again friends! (But seriously. In the throat. It hurts.)

Oh dear god I'm lazy...

It's been a really long time since I've written anything here. Wow, I'm pretty ashamed of how lazy I am.

I'm going to redirect what I'm doing though, and just post my artwork and randomness about my life. Sorry, I know that's boring, but you all can go suck it :)

So a lot has happened since... February? I'm 18 now, I'm dating this cute guy named Dylan (we just got back from seeing Kite's Book, which is a really good play by the way), I just finished all but one of my AP tests, including art! Thank god!
Art is crazy though, I got second in congressional--totally gypped, first place work was a badly rendered portrait of the artist and her boyfriend. They were in black and white pencil, the background was a rainbow of splotchy pastels. Basic fundamentals work-- first in our school's NAHS show, and now upcoming are the south shore and union street gallery show. And prom! not art related, but I'm going to prom! Dylan asked me with a book he made. If I'm not too lazy again I'll post pics.

I think I'm going to post at least one painting from my concentration/breadth per week until I run out. Just to feel productive!

So here's the first two (keep in mind, they get way less shitty as time goes on!)

This first one is Helios, god of the sun.

This is Hestia, goddess of the hearth and home. This is probably my least favorite of the twelve, but I didn't have time to replace it.

So that's all folks! I'll post another pic next week, hopefully, maybe, probably?

I am a lazy kid, let's not get too hopeful!

P.S. Markers happened! It was awesome, we had about 30 people playing, it was epic. Ginta won in the end, I got killed by hillary, she just walked by in math and swiped me on the hand.
But I killed Emre by setting her up for a hug with skankleton! She wasn't showing any skin anywhere except for on her neck, so I was creepy and drew on her neck. Fun stuff!

I'm sorry, I'M SORRY, IT MUST BE THIS GUY

the title's a reference to marshall on dorm life by the way

So I've been crazy busy these past few weeks... also I'm lazy. I'm working on a new painting of Kronos which I'll post up here when it's done. Speaking of which, I'll probably post most of the pieces I'm putting in my portfolio up here eventually. Maybe even today if I feel motivated. All I'm doing right now is sitting home sick, getting my germs on the computer.

Here's a sketchbook friday piece, I usually stick with collage for that because I can work much more quickly.

I think that I'm going to be shifting the focus of this blog from my veeeery interesting life to the artwork I create. I'll still give you updates from time to time though, I like writing down stuff that happens to me so that I can remember it more clearly in the future!

Sleepover fun

I slept over at my friend Hillary's house last night along with jordan and rachel. It was really fun hanging out with all of them again. we used to hang out just the four of us a lot more back in junior high school, but now we're usually with a bigger group or just different people. We ate tons of food and watched crappy movies and tv dating shows all while gossiping about everybody and their mother.

We woke up this morning, or this afternoon, around two. It was ridiculous. Later we went to see the princess and the frog. It's a good movie, I totally loved the shadowman!

So even though I'm tired and it's one in the morning I was bored. So I uploaded one of my sketches and played with the computer magic (my friend jordan has named me the artwizard, it's pretty legit) to make this:

I didn't do much, just played a little bit with some grays and whatnot.
My friend put something weird on his facebook. I don't want to put it here, but I wonder what it means. (firstly, this isn't about some weird oh my god, cute boy, type thing. He just said something weird and I'm wondering if he's ok. secondly, the cryptic message is because I don't have a diary and when I'm old I can look at this and be all, oh! I remember that! Instead of not remembering it at all)

Boredom in the Ho-Flo

Today my friends and I finally finished finals, and we were all incredibly happy to be free from yet more studying. All hopped up on "no-more-exam" endorphins, we went to the station to get some food, and catch up. I was just me, jordan, alex, maya, rachel, and jerbear. One thing I'll never understand, why do all students at my highschool go to the station so frequently? The food is expensive and not very good. We have so many other options, burrito station, eat rice, we could go get ice cream even! Yet we constantly return to purchase yet another mediocre meal. But anyways, when we had finished lunch we decided to head on over to my house (well, the girls did. we sort of ditched the boys) and watch the breakfast club and she's the man. great movies by the way. everyone should watch them!

Anyways, we eventually got bored after so much movie watching/lazing around/pizza eating, so we headed out to caribou to get hot chocolate and then we headed over to willow school. people keep telling us that there's a ladder to get onto the roof so we thought we'd check is out.

We couldn't find the freaking ladder!!! we walked all around that school to no avail. apparently the ladder was there during construction, and may not be there anymore, probably because ruffians of our sort keep climbing onto the school.

In the end we just hung out at the park and climbed the hill. Or tried to climb the hill, it was icy and rachel and jordan had boots with no traction, so really it was just maya and I laughing our asses off at the top of the hill while jo and rach struggled on. There was a really creepy guy on the hill though. He just stood there, staring at the trees the entire time we were at the park. He never moved, just stared into the distance. Anyways, we were bored, so we had camera fun and took a bunch of unnecessary pictures.
I have adobe illustrator for the next 25 days for a trial, so I thought I might as well use it:

It was creepy shit. We're going to find a way to get onto that school though. Why?
And that's the only reason we need.

Also, I'm bored and I have a sketchbook full of craziness. Here's a bonus pic.

Lists and markers make the best year ever

And I present to you, my friends, THE LIST.
It is an incredible compilation of the most exciting, innovative, dashing, and every other fun adjective you can think of list ever! It is the list of 2010. What is this amazing creature you may ask?
this is the list of all of the crazycool stuff we're doing before leaving for college.

You may notice that out of all of the beautifully amazing things we're doing on the list, the first is
"MARKERS! (ASSASSIN)"
Markers is a game of badassery where you kill by marking your mark with a marker (I know, I'm sorry about that sentence too).
So pretty much it's like assassin, but we can play it in school. Every person is given another person to kill (it goes in a circle), and once you've killed them you receive their mark. It's a vicious cycle of killing that ends when your mark... is YOU. or you know, whoever was cool enough to win gets themself.

We're planning on starting the game up next week once finals are over, because there's too much econ/calc/spanish hell going on to focus on imminent death just presently.

Bonus: My friend chubs had to carry a purse on the path today, maybe I'll make a drawing of it for this, it was pretty classy.
